1.The basic structure of multistage pump is composed of water inlet, outlet section, middle section, tail hood, impeller, pump body, pump shaft, bearing, seal ring, and stuffing box etc.


2.The impeller is the core part of the multistage pump which is with great power and high speed. The blades of the impeller play a major role. The impeller will take the static balance test before the assembly. The inner and outer surfaces of the impeller are required to be smooth, so as to reduce the friction loss of the flow.


3.The inlet section, the outlet section and the middle section are also called the pump casing which is the main body of the multi-stage pump. It plays a supporting role, and is connected with the mounting bracket of the bearing.


4.The function of the pump shaft is connected with the motor via the coupling, to transmit the torque of the motor to the impeller, so it is the main component of the mechanical transmitting energy.


5.The bearing is a component that supports the shaft of the pump shaft, and there are two kinds of bearing called the rolling bearings and the sliding bearings. Rolling bearings uses butter as lubricant, the butter should be appropriate, in general for 2/3 ~ 3/4 volume, too much makes fever, and too little makes noise and fever! Sliding bearing uses transparent oil as its lubricant and the lubricant is added to the oil level line. Too much oil will leak out along the shaft and splash, and with too little oil, the bearings will be overheated and burned, leading to the accident! In the process of running the pump, the highest temperature of the bearing will be 85 degrees, generally running at around 60 degrees. If the temperature is higher you need to find the reason and the cause (Are there any impurities? Is oil black? Is water coming?) , and do timely treatment.


6.The sealing ring is also called reducing leakage ring. The oversize gap between the impeller inlet and the pump shell will cause the water of the high pressure area of pump flowing to the low pressure area, affecting the output water of pump, decreasing the efficiency. The too small gap will cause the friction and damage. To increase the back flow resistance and decrease inner leakage, extending the impellers and pump shell service life, the seal ring is set in the joint of pump shell inner and impeller external assistance. The sealing space is good to set in 0.25~1.10mm.


7.Stuffing is mainly composed by the filler, seal ring, filler tube, filler gland, seal tubes. The stuffing box is mainly used to seal the gap between the sealed pump casing and the pump shaft, so that the flow of the pump does not flow to the outside and the outside air doesn’t flow into the pump. Always maintain the vacuum inside the pump! When pump shaft and packing have friction, producing heat, the water sealing pipe is depended on to keep water in the water seal ring and to cool the packing. Keep water pump normally running. So it needs paying special attention to the stuffing box during the water pump running inspection tour. Change the packing after each 600 running hours.
